The Southern California Tribal Chairman’s Association (SCTCA) hosted its annual graduation ceremony, honoring over 200 outstanding youth from 22 tribes across San Diego County. The event, held at the Pala Casino Spa Resort, was marked by a series of inspiring speeches, feather blessings, and the awarding of several significant scholarships. The ceremony began with opening remarks from Erica Pinto, Chairwoman of the Jamul Indian Village, followed by a blessing of eagle feathers and a prayer led by Chris Devers of the Pauma Band of Luiseño Indians.
SCTCA Chairman of the Board of Directors and Pala Band of Mission Indians Chairman Robert Smith welcomed attendees with an inspiring message about the power of education and the importance of community support.
The ceremony also included a heartfelt in memoriam honoring Bo Mazzetti, Chairman of the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians, who served 16 consecutive years on the Rincon Tribal Council.
Among those honored were seven graduates from the Rincon Tribe who received special recognition from the Rincon Tribal Council for their achievements and promising futures.
