Harrah’s adopts Lake Wohlford

Escondido officials joined John Sebastian, director of casino operations for Harrah’s Resort Southern California, to celebrate the adoption of Lake Wohlford by the resort owned by the Rincon Band of Mission Indians.
Sebastian told the Times-Advocate that “Harrah’s Resort and is really proud and excited to clean up the lake and the property at Lake Wohlford. We’re just a proud supporter of the tribe and Lake Wohlford.”
With the adoption of the lake, Harrah’s employees will sponsor three lake cleanups in 2016.
Harrah’s employees participated in two lake cleanups last year. Employees picked up trash and debris along the shoreline and in the the community areas. The unveiling of an adoption sign highlighted the resort’s Code Green pledge to look for ways to improve the environment, conserve water and ensure sustainability of natural resources.
Harrah’s made donations of service in-kind and cash worth $3 million in 2015. The resort and Rincon Band created an All-in 4 Change event last fall in which they donated $67,000 to local nonprofit organizations.
Resort employees have donated nearly 80,000 hours of service to the community, according to a press release.

Harrah’s employees also participated in the worldwide #Giving Tuesday in 2015. They took breakfast sandwiches and fruit plates to Escondido and Valley Center firefighters, gathered 7,000 pounds of food for the San Diego-wide Jacobs and Cushman Food Bank, donated gift baskets to blood banks, supported homeless people with gifts of labor and goods to the Alpha Project, visited convalescent homes on holidays and participated in beach cleanups.
